| This district-wide initiative is being funded jointly by the District, the Foundation and the PTSA. This grant will cover the costs of books, supplies, and speakers involved in a K-12 community read/service project. Students will read Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson, (available in a young adult version and a picture book version) and participate in a community service program, Pennies for Peace. The program will connect to various elements of the curriculum throughout the academic year and will address issues related to intercultural understanding, problem solving and conflict resolution. | |

Students will learn about the interconnectedness of all living things on earth while simultaneously studying concepts related to nutrition, biology, ecology and life cycles. | |
